Viewlets™ are short Java Applet "movies" showing you how to perform a computer skill. Each Viewlet™ lasts three to five minutes. The first Viewlet™ you watch will take almost a minute to download -- please be patient. Remaining Viewlets™ load in much less time because the critical Java files are already in your browser's cache. To see more Viewlets™ on my Web site, visit my home page. Or for more information about Viewlets™, visit http://www.qarbon.com.

As the Viewlet™ is running, you'll see a navigation bar with four buttons on it (see figure to the right). Because aborting Java applets can make your browser unstable, never close the Viewlet™ window when the Viewlet™ is still running. Always stop the Viewlet™ first before closing the window. If the screens move too quickly and you are unable to read everything, click on the pause button to stop the Viewlet™ then advance the screens one at a time with the advance button.

Viewlets™ require Java 1.1 (or higher) but do not require any other plug in. Viewlets™ work on Windows and Macintosh computers equally well; although Netscape 4.7 (for Mac) does not play Viewlets™ (Netscape tried to make their own version of the JVM that would run Java applets and it does not work with Viewlets™). Internet Explorer and Netscape 6 for Mac do work with Viewlets™. You can check to see if your browser will play Viewlets™ by going to the following test page:
